Please read Tom's excellent documentation, which spells out exactly what
all the constraints and issues are that we know about, and I would say
that people need to simply test their changes and move on.

If you want a simple answer, nothing's going to break for a 2.4 Windows
install. That doesn't make 2.4 supported; it's not, and hasn't been for
years. That seems like a bigger problem to me.

If you're not on Red Hat 4 or Solaris, just make the change.
