US Federations Discussion

Our next conference call is this Wednesday, March 18th, from 12:00 noon -

For this months call we have asked John Chapman from the UK to present on 
Becta's use of federated identity and discuss the Becta story.  We heard from 
the InCommon Federation on our last call and discussed some of the emerging 
service needs that may require state or regional consortia to build their own 
federation along side or on top of InCommon.  Some of the questions coming 
out of our monthly discussions have focused on the inclusion of the K12 
sector (ages 5-18). What is value proposition of federated identity for this 
audience? Who is using this approach and what are the issues being 
encountered? How are privacy and governance managed?  John will update us on 
what's happening in the UK with both Shibboleth and SIF in the K-12 sector 
where they have made strides in this area.

We anticipate John's presentation to take about 20 minutes and then will open 
it up for questions and general discussion.  The change in time is to 
accommodate the time difference in the UK and we will revert to our usual 
time slot in the future.

Unfortunately, I will not be available to join this months call, but Rich 
Greenfield and Ann West will moderate on my behalf.  They are also trying to 
arrange to have Adobe Connect for the call so we can record the presentation 
and discussion.  A separate notice will be sent if this can be arranged.
