To all InCommon Participants,

 

Thanks to the overwhelming support of the InCommon community, we are crossing the finish line to transition the federation to Baseline Expectations. As of today, 97% of entities registered in the InCommon federation meet Baseline Expectations requirements.

 

As part of the closing activities, we are updating the Federation Manager to fully enforce the requirements of Baseline Expectations.

 

Effective April 8, 2019, the Federation Manager will require new and updating entities to meet all Baseline Expectations requirements before metadata can be submitted for publication to the InCommon metadata aggregate. An entity must have:

 

• at least one administrative contact with a valid email address;
• at least one technical with a valid email address;
• at least one security with a valid email address;
• a valid privacy statement URL, and that it:

• points to your organization’s published data privacy statement;
• returns an HTTP 200 response from a GET request;

a valid logo URL, and that it:

• points to your organization’s (or service’s) logo, suitable for display by fellow federation services to help a user identify your organization/service when choosing or accessing service;
• returns an HTTP 200 response from a GET request;

 

Missing these requirements had previously triggered a warning in the Federation Manager, but publication was still allowed. On April 8, these requirements become mandatory. If you have questions, please reach us at . Thank you,
