Title: Agenda info for first call
This is a reminder of our first InC-Library Phase 2 call today at
1 p.m. (EDT). The call-in number and PIN are at the end of this email.
I want to take a minute and outline the goals of our effort and how we
plan to proceed on today's call.
The working group's goal is to pilot the Shibboleth/EZProxy hybrid and, ultimately, put it into production at several campuses. The second goal involves sharing what has been learned and with the library community and highlighting the work that you've done.
The working group's goal is to pilot the Shibboleth/EZProxy hybrid and, ultimately, put it into production at several campuses. The second goal involves sharing what has been learned and with the library community and highlighting the work that you've done.
A third goal involves collaborating with other parallel efforts,
such as the NISO Authentication Work Effort and the UK/JISC
"Federated Access Management: Service Provider Interface
Study".
On today's call, each participating site will have the
opportunity to spend two minutes talking about the status of the
Shibboleth and EZProxy deploys on your campus (if any) and your site's
short term goals in this space. Ultimately, the group will use this
information to develop priorities.
Today's call agenda:
1. sites describe their status/problems/issues
2. cull out main issues identified in #1
3. begin to develop a list of priorities
2. cull out main issues identified in #1
3. begin to develop a list of priorities
4. develop a work plan to begin addressing the priorities
This is intended to be a working group in every sense of that
phrase. There is room here for people to listen and learn, but we will
also need campuses to lead this effort by doing the work and leading
the implementation. We expect that people will be piloting, learning,
and helping one another. And sharing what we learn with the broader
community, to make the path easier for those who follow.
This is an exciting time for the library community in the U.S.
and our work could help each other and other schools in a significant
way.
