Attributes for Collaboration and Federation Working Group

How about this for background?

The InCommon federation has three standing committees that help guide federation operations and activities:  The Steering Committee, The Technical Advisory Committee, and the Assurance Advisory Committee. Sponsored by all three of those committees, the Attributes for Collaboration and Federation Working Group was formed to research and examine the low adoption rate of the Research and Scholarship Entity Category (R&S) by InCommon members and develop recommendations to increase participation.

Through surveys and interviews, the Attributes for Collaboration and Federation Working Group reached over 130 organizations, examining participation and planned participation in R&S. As a result of this process, the Working Group has drafted a report of its findings and developed a set of recommendations. The Working Group is now soliciting additional feedback through the community consultation process.

I will review our report one more time, but I was able to add our researcher quote earlier this week. I'll confirm tomorrow.

I realize it may not be feasible for you to edit that page due to the Confluence issues, so let me know if you want me to make edits, such as adding the Background info.

In addition please let me know when the recommendations doc is complete and I will export it as a PDF and link it from the page.  I remember there might still be one issue outstanding regarding a researcher quote.

Hi Brad,

We hope your week is off to a good start. 

After discussions with Tom Barton, Kevin Morooney, Ann West and others, it was decided that it makes most sense to open the consultation for the Attributes Working Group recommendations on Monday, May 7.  This is the same day as the Global Summit Attributes WG BOF, at noon PT.  (FYI, the plan is that the consultation on the Streamlining SP Onboarding WG outputs will open later today April 30.)

I will set up the wiki page for the Attributes WG Recommendations consultation  within the next few days.

Will you be available on Monday morning May 7 to email  the announcement opening the consultation?  The plan is that the consultation would be open for 4 weeks, so Monday May 7 to Friday, June 1.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for doing the Tech Ex Proposal.

The Streamlining SP Onboarding working group https://spaces.internet2.edu/x/iJiTBg has a community consultation opening on Monday April 30. 

We may want to wait until Wed May 2 to open the community consultation for the Attributes Working Group Recommendations just to create a bit of space between the two announcements.

I am chatting with the staff about  this and will let you know the proposed timing.
