Please join us for the next call on Wed., February 20, 4-5 pm EST.
Also, we would like to encourage everyone to join the two preliminary webinars (Jan. 18 and Jan. 25) for the Quilt/InCommon Federation Workshop. Details are included below.
For those unable to attend the meeting in La Jolla (Feb. 7-8), we will use the Feb. 20 USFeds call to share any outcomes, as well as the consensus reached on strategy and next steps – including any potential pilot projects selected.
Thank you. Happy New Year!

Preliminary Webinars for The Quilt / InCommon Federation Workshop
Jack Suess and George Laskaris
In order to maximize the effectiveness of our planned one-day Federation workshop at the Quilt Meeting in La Jolla, CA on February 7th
- 8th we have planned two preliminary webinars to provide the necessary background and context to insure that participants will get the most out of the workshop and will come prepared with enough preliminary information to participate in the discussion. Information
about the Federation Workshop is available at: http://thequilt.net/index.php/events/246-2013-quilt-incommon
The first webinar will be held on Friday, January 18th
at 1:00 PM ET and will provide an Introduction to Federations and InCommon. This webinar will introduce some of the basic concepts and terminology associated with components of Identity management
and federations for those who may not have had much background or exposure to approaches that have been applied in the Identity domain.
The second webinar will be held on Friday, January 25th at 1:00 PM ET and will provide a more in-depth overview
of some models and strategies for establishing a distributed framework for federation that would allow for the extensibility of InCommon services to constituents such as K-12 and community colleges in collaboration with regional networks. Other goals of the
second webinar are to prepare attendees to come to the workshop with information about their constituent’s needs, readiness, and level of expertise as well as potential Regional/K-12 pilot project opportunities.
There is no pre-registration. The Adobe URL will be the same for both webinars:
