All,
I'm pleased to announce that voting has closed
and to welcome the 50th, 51st and 52nd members of eduGAIN.
The details of the voting is available online:
The summary is:
* 27 votes cast
* 25 in the affirmative / 2 abstain for
Algeria/ARNaai
* 22 in the affirmative / 5 abstain for
Cyprus/CIF
* 22 in the affirmative / 5 abstain for
Iran/IRFED
* 1 vote from an excluded voter to regain
their voting right (LITNET FEDI)
* 6 federations (Belnet, COLFIRE, HAKA,
SIR, Tuakiri and Oman KID) remain on the excluded list
* 8 federations (WAYF, TAAT, FÉR,
Edugate, ArnesAAI, PEANO, YETKIM and AAIEduMk) join the
excluded list
* 38 federations are now on the active
voting list (35 + 3 new) an overall reduction of 4.
Additionally, the deputies + delegates from
ARNaai, CIF and IRFED have been added to the eduGAIN SG
mailing list.
Thanks to the work of all SG members in voting,
assessing the federations and providing them feedback and the
work of our newest three members in working toward
participating in eduGAIN.

All,
just a reminder that this voting process
is still proceeding and you have until next Tuesday
morning (Amsterdam time) to submit your vote.
Thanks to the 15 federations that have
cast their vote thus far.
For the vote to conclude before that time
we’d need:
* 7 more positive votes for
Algeria/ARNaai,
* 9 more positive votes for Cyprus/CIF,
* 8 more positive votes for Iran/IRFED,
* or 22 negative votes (but I don’t see
that happening).
If the vote was to conclude now (which
it hasn’t) the voting situation in the future would
be:
* Seven (7) federations (Belnet,
COLFIRE, HAKA, LITNET FEDI, SIR, Tuakiri, Oman KID)
would continue to be excluded from voting (they can
correct this by voting “I abstain”)
* Nine (9) federations (WAYF, TAAT,
FÉR, Edugate, IDEM, ArnesAAI, PEANO, YETKIM and
AAIEduMk) would be added to the excluded list (they
can avoid this by voting as eduID.cz and SAFIRE did
- even if they choose abstain)
* ARNaai, CIF and IRFED would join
eduGAIN bringing the membership count to 52.
* The active voting list would be
reduced to 36 members (33 + 3 new).
The voting page was wrong and listed
MINGA, GIF, DFNaai, GRNET, eduID.lu, RCTSaai,
MATE, and FEBAS as *yellow* indicating a warning
that they could lose their right to vote if they
didn’t vote in this round. That isn’t true so I’ve
updated the colours. Sorry about that.
I’ll send a final summary on Tuesday
morning and update the voting page.
Thanks,
-Brook

eduGAIN Delegates (and Deputies),
I have the pleasure to announce
that three (3) federations have progressed
through the assessment of their policy and
responded to the feedback by their peer

Cyprus research and education community, has

You can review the supplied
information which is accessible from the
eduGAIN Technical Status Page:
These documents have been
assessed by your peers and all pending
issues have been resolved.
And as per section 3 of of the
eduGAIN Constitution, I believe that the
application by these three (3) federations
meets all of the mandatory
requirements for eduGAIN membership and as
such now provide that information to
the membership of eduGAIN to seek your
confirmation via this vote:
This will be a vote by simple
majority from today (Monday 31 July 2017)
until Tuesday 14th August 2017.
The vote can end early if 22
votes in the affirmative are received before
the deadline from the 42 active voting
members. Otherwise more positive
than negative votes are required by the
deadline. Note that only one (1) vote is
accepted from an eduGAIN participant and the
delegate/deputy should determine who votes
on behalf of their federation.
Votes cast by members that
have been excluded from voting will
restore their voting rights for future
voting occasions but will not affect the
outcome of this vote.
I'll provide an update on the progress of
voting (and a reminder) in one (1) week from
today.
The OT is responisible for validating and
accepting the metadata of these federations
if/once their status of member is accepted.
