Dear All

At the REFEDS meeting at the end of May - which already seems a very long time ago - it was agreed that we would revisit the concept of IdP categorisation via entity categories and in particular the notion of an "academia" tag.  Some work on this was completed a while ago but there was not enough consensus on moving this forward.  The continuously changing nature of the IdPs accepted in to federations and other changes to the landscape 

In order to move this work forward I have put a proposed work item for the Entity Development Working Group at: https://wiki.refeds.org/display/GROUPS/Idp+Categorisation - with thanks to Niels for the input.   I'd like to get feedback on the proposition and then move forward with setting up some calls to finalise the work and move towards a full consultation.   There are several upcoming meetings where it would be useful to discuss this further.
