Given the impact of decisions made in the SAML profile for eduGAIN, we would like to welcome contributions from the REFEDS and AARC communities to consultation described below. Final voting decisions on the profile will rest with the eduGAIN SG but we value all input.  If you feel there are other groups that would benefit, please do not hesitate to forward - all of the consultation material is openly available.

I'd like to open the consultation for the new eduGAIN SAML Profile.  To support the new Constitution and the move to support multiple technologies within eduGAIN, a single profile for all SAML requirements has been developed and is proposed to replace the existing Metadata Profile.  Recommendations for the removal of the WebSSO Profile and the Attributes Profile are also included in the consultation. 

All details of the consultation are available at: https://wiki.edugain.org/index.php?title=EduGAIN_SAML_Profile.  I strongly urge you to read the supporting paper and the associated questions AS WELL as reviewing the profile proposal.  Please note that requirements have been tightened so you probably do want to check that your federation can comply.  Where requirements are been strengthened, it is proposed that a grace period will be introduced before requiring existing eduGAIN members to support.

Comments are welcome until 1st September 2017.
