Streamlining SP Onboarding WG

Many thanks to you all (and especially Garrett and Tommy) for your fine work!

 

Typically, working group reports/findings are reviewed and accepted by InCommon Steering Committee and then forwarded to the appropriate group/org for review, gap analysis, prioritization and response. While I wasn’t on the TAC call where this was discussed, this set of resources should follow the same path. Steering met yesterday (with a full agenda) and will be, I believe, considering this report at their next meeting in October. We will work with TAC leadership (Janemarie and Mark) on next steps in case I’m all wet here (which is not uncommon).

 

Again, congratulations on the development of a fine set of resources for service providers. I’m sure they will be very welcome and useful!

Hi All-

 

I'm happy to report that this phase of the working group is complete! 

 

A couple updates with regards to carrying this work forward:

 

1. Our work has been presented to the InCommon Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and the TAC will be continuing to review the material and will decide what the next course of action will be (i.e. perhaps a pilot).  Until then, corresponding working group wiki material (https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/x/iJiTBg) has been updated and we will no longer be having weekly calls. 
2. There may be an opportunity for further review by InCommon Steering during this year's TechEx.
3. All of us involved with the working group, including the TAC, should continue to champion this material and continue to have the conversation with peers and Service Providers with regards to what steps we all can take, as a community, to chip away at streamlining the SP onboarding process.
