Thanks Tom!

When Shibboleth connects to the remote metadata XML resource, it retrieves
the file and caches it (...\opt\shibboleth-sp\var\run\shibboleth\). In that
same location, the file " InCommon-metadata.xml.tag" is also generated. That
file only contains the value for " If-None-Match:". My question is whether
that value is cached in the shibd.exe application memory, or if it compares
the value from the response header to that file every time the HTTP
Conditional GET request is sent?

For context, I'm trying to determine the behavior of the application with
respect to that file. If for some reason the application can't connect to the
remote resource to retrieve the metadata, but the metadata is placed in the
cached location manually, does that file also need to be updated manually?

Thanks!

- Brent

You seem to be asking about HTTP Conditional GET but I have no idea what an
"xml.tag file" is, so I can't answer your question, sorry.

That's the problem, I don't know what file you're referring to.
