The FAQ notes that supported versions of the IdP are capable of
validating SHA-2 signatures. How far back (version-wise) does that
support go? We are running on an unsupported version at the moment
(2.3.6), and I suspect there are many others in that boat.
As far as I know, the dependency is solely Java version for anything from
2.0 on. I wouldn't vouch for 1.3.

A quick web investigation suggests that Sun/Oracle Java 1.4.2 and above support SHA-2, so I suspect we'll be OK (running on JDK1.6.mumble).
