Dear Dan and Doug,

Thank you for taking the time to meet with Ann, our colleagues in the university IT infrastructure world, and me yesterday.  I was pleased to hear there was possibilities for adoption of InCommon-Federated technologies in support of several NSC endeavors such as Meteor, the on-line services, and even use of transmission of enrollment data from schools to the NSC.  The NSC's involvement at this time is strategically important as the emphasis on data and system security -- on-campus and with our business partners, it upper-most on our organizations' minds, including many of our Board of Trustees.

I would like to personally invite Doug to attend this year's EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu/) Annual meeting -- http://www.educause.edu/conference/annual/2007, and any of the other meetings where the higher education community IT professionals gather.  These are very worthwhile meetings that will give NSC a first-look at and participate in the issues we are addressing.  Knowing the technology-based issues the NSC faces is critical as you noted yesterday, especially for smaller schools without the depth of IT resources.  Inasmuch as we do lots of collaboration and share resources, our mutual understanding of needs is essential in advancing our collective mission.

There will be a follow-up email of to-do's that Ann will be sharing (probably after the Internet-2 conference).

Again, thank you for meeting with us and sharing your interests.

By the way, let Ann or me know if there are other ways EDUCAUSE and/or other higher ed technology information and/or professional resources would be of help.

WIth all good wishes,

David
