Monday afternoon works well for Dan Boehmer and Doug Falk.  Let me know time.

In preparation for this conversation, I have forwarded links to 
InCommon, Internet/2 and Shib websites.  As well, described how 
adoption of InCommon-Federation would enable improved authorization 
and authentication processes to vital data, both inter- and 
intra-institutions, and with key business partners, noting that the 
NSC is one of a handful of organizations all of higher ed links to 
being highly visible.

For our purposes, Dan's background is banking, with limited 
technology focus.  Doug as CIO will be doing a fair amount of 
translation for Dan.  Both Dan and Doug may believe their 
environments are very secure -- the NSC has at least two major IT 
security audits each year, thus may not view the need.  I've 
indicated we (Cornell) may mandate such infrastructure environments 
as part of our IdM infrastructure, and that being part of the 
standard will be essential.  I've encouraged Doug to attend the 
Internet/2 conference and EDUCAUSE to be more acquainted with the 
various players, issues, and solutions, especially as we view them as 
part of this industry.

I will touch base with Dan and Doug next week to inquire of specific 
questions and areas they would like to cover more in-depth.   Let me 
know if there is other follow-up.
