Regarding login:

If you have a user account with an InCommon member institution (eg UW, 
Cornell) you can, when faced with the "Select an Identity Provider" page, 
pick it from the list and sign on in your institution's usual fashion.  If 
this is the first time that someone from your institution has tried to use 
the spaces.internet2.edu wiki, you may have to tell the administrator of 
your institution's Shibboleth system to do this:

  set the Attribute Release Policy to release the eduPersonPrincipalName
  attribute to https://spaces.internet2.edu/shibboleth

If your institution is not an InCommon member, you can select 
"ProtectNetwork" from list.  ProtectNetwork is a Shibboleth-enabled 
identity provider that lets anyone get an ID just using an email address 
(in the usual Internet way).  There are instructions on the ProtectNetwork 
login page on signing up for a ProtectNetwork ID.

In either case you'll want to send email to Steve Olshansky 
<> letting him know your userid on the wiki so you can 
be added to the group that has access to the InC-Student space.

(You'll note that this process could be made easier.  That's why we have 
people working on integration of federation and collaboration tools ...)
