To All InCommon Participants,

In April, I wrote to you about a number of enhancements to InCommon Federation services coming this year. Among them is retiring the legacy metadata aggregate (md.incommon.org). That ball is starting to roll. The following are two important updates to know: 

IP address change for the legacy metadata aggregate (md.incommon.org)

On August 20, 2024, Internet2 will be moving the legacy metadata service at md.incommon.org to a new host as part of a system update. This move will cause md.incommon.org’s IP addresses to change.

The new IP addresses for md.incommon.org are:

163.253.46.118
52.53.66.231

If you have egress firewall rules in place, this IP address change may affect your ability to access md.incommon.org. Please update your firewall rules to allow your servers to retrieve metadata from the above IP addresses.

Better yet, move your systems to mdq.incommon.org today!

Move to MDQ (mdq.incommon.org) by the end of 2024

Even as we plan for a system update to the legacy aggregate, its retirement date is set. InCommon will be retiring the legacy metadata aggregate at the end of 2024. All services relying on the legacy aggregate today need to move MDQ to avoid service interruption. MDQ has been running since 2021. If you are using the legacy aggregate today, now is a good time to make the move. For more information, visit: https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/display/mdq.
