Hello,
On Monday, October 11, 2021, at 5 p.m. US Pacific Daylight Time (8 p.m. US Eastern Time), InCommon staff will begin the process of moving the InCommon Federation Manager application from our current on-premises environment, to a new hosting environment within Amazon Web Services. The application will still be accessible at the same URL you use to access it today (https://service1.internet2.edu/siteadmin) after the move. The move is expected to take up to an hour, and the application will not be accessible during that time.
All production InCommon Federation SAML metadata will continue to be served without interruption during the maintenance window, but no metadata changes will be possible; there will be an outage notification in place at the URL of the application. The outage is necessary in order to allow us to copy the database that backs the application, to its new location.
We are taking advantage of this move to modernize a number of processes around the Federation Manager, and make new facilities available to the application, which will allow innovative new features in the future (stay tuned!). We will communicate with this mailing list when the outage begins, and when it is complete.
