If you are an IdP site administrator, your prompt ACTION MAY BE REQUIRED. If 
you are an SP site administrator or technical contact, this is FYI ONLY.

NOTICE! If your IdP supports the Research and Scholarship (R&S) category [1] 
AND your IdP configuration refers to the legacy entity attribute [2] for the 
R&S category, this is to inform you that the legacy entity attribute will be 
permanently removed from SP metadata on October 31, 2012. Some time prior to 
this date, you MUST tweak your IdP configuration to refer to the currently 
supported entity attribute [3] instead of the legacy entity attribute. If you 
don’t, your IdP will stop interoperating with all R&S SPs after October 31st.

Note: This is a one-time configuration change to an IdP that supports R&S.

By the way, if your IdP releases at least the minimal subset of the R&S 
attribute bundle to R&S SPs, [4] and your IdP is NOT on the list of IdPs that 
support R&S [5], please let us know at 

 and we will gladly add your IdP to the list.
