On Thursday, February 10, an InCommon Federation participant inadvertently
introduced a literal space into a location endpoint URL of an
<md:AssertionConsumerService> element in metadata. This space is causing some
consumers of InCommon Federation metadata to fail. We have had two such
reports of metadata breakage so far.
This problem will be fixed today (Friday, February 11) by 3:00pm EST. That
is, an updated metadata file will be published with the literal space
character removed. Once an updated, and correct, metadata file is published,
we will investigate the scope of this issue and reply to this mailing list
with an update.
If your site was affected by this issue, it would be very helpful if you
would send e-mail to
and describe your symptoms in detail. Please include the name and version
number of the software component that experienced the problem.
