Subject: [USFeds] March 16th Federated IdM Call Reminder

As a reminder, our next US Federations call will take place on Wednesday
February 16th at 4:00 PM ET and will feature Grace Agnew, Associate
University Librarian for Digital Library Systems at Rutgers University.

Grace will be describing efforts underway on project OLE (Open Library
Environment) which is a Mellon Foundation sponsored initiative now under the
auspices of the Kuali Foundation. The OLE project is developing a
community-source, enterprise level software that will replace current
integrated library systems (ILS) as well as several ancillary systems
necessary today to manage scholarly content.

As a regional cloud application the project has the potential of replacing
expensive proprietary systems of many libraries and Federated Identity
management will be a central component of the system, enabling strong
individualization of collections to be maintained and access to resources
provided based on the identity and role of the user. The New Jersey’s
implementation of OLE will leverage the identity management work of the
individual institutions as well as NJTrust, New Jersey’s Identity management
trust federation.

Please join us to hear more about developments of the exciting initiative.
The call in number is 1-877-944-2300, access code 99205#. We look forward to
speaking with you then.

Regards,

-George Laskaris & Suresh Balakrishnan
