I still think the ezproxy use case for Shibboleth is insufficient to
motivate adoption. And I could hear skepticism from some of the
webinar listeners. Dave's presentation and argument would be stronger
if he added a couple other use cases for Shibboleth:

1. Link to licensed content from the open Web (e.g., start with Google
search, login to licensed content via campus SSO).

2. Minimize disruption caused by "excessive download" cutoffs. It
seems that every week now our remote access to a given licensed
resource (often ACS) is being blocked by a vendor due to spidering
activity from China. When this happens, the vendor cuts off access for
all our remote access patrons because the traffic is coming through
our single proxy server IP. If the offending party was logged in with
Shib, they could cut off only that patron until it is resolved.
