Hi all –

 

Just wanted to give a quick update, as well as letting folks know that meetings are cancelled until after the holidays – the next scheduled phone conference is on January 16.

 

Dean, Ann, Steve and I are working to put together the public web page and consolidating documents from the first part of the project. The current plan is to conclude Phase I of the pilot and mobilize for a second phase, building on the testing that has been done in this group, and involving additional institutions for functional black-box testing to identify process issues, standards and features needed for vendors and Shibboleth in order to have a solution that is easy for libraries to implement and to teach to users.

 

At the Internet2 meeting, a number of us met with Nicole Harris from JISC to talk about next steps and participation in a larger discussion of current barriers to implementation and use case concerns. JISC is pulling together a group of sites and contacts to talk in-depth about these issues, and this should be taking place in late January / February, Steve will be following up with more information.

 

Last but not least, I’ve accepted a position at the California Digital Library starting in January. Among other things I’ll be involved with managing the technical integration of licensed electronic resources into CDL systems and services, including technical requirements, vendor relationships, and ongoing lifecycle management activities – this also involves managing our trial processes and feature requests lists.  I’m handing the chair reins back over to Steve, but look forward to continuing my involvement with this group as it goes forward, and see about possibly getting some other UC campuses on board.
