As some of you probably know, for the last 15 months the Shib team has been working with the european higher ed Shib federations. Right now, Shib federations are either in production or in test in every western european country, from scandanavia to spain, from greece to the UK. Interestingly, in most of these countries, information resources are licensed at the national level. In this country, as we all know, most licenses are signed by campuses, or by geographically-based consortia. Consequently, the europeans have been able to make the business case to the info vendors that they should Shib-enable their services. The federations developed a prioritized list of vendors, and then began approaching them as a group. Here's the "top 20" from their list, along with the status of each vendor:

We've been asked to NOT make some of this information public; please use user/demo to obtain access. I'd ask you to respect the vendor's wishes, and not share this information outside your institutions.

I should note that OCLC FirstSearch is also Shib-enabled (but OCLC didn't appear on the euro's list...).

Most of this activity occurred below the radar screen for US sites.

Let me know if you have any questions.
