Dear All,

I am happy to share with you that shibboleth authentication is now available from SagePub. For instruction to enable InCommon members access via Shibboleth, see email form Rob Smith’s email below.

Rob has also provide wayfless url format that library can use for direct Sage Publication and interface access.

WAYFless URL: For SAGE Journals Online, the format is: http://online.sagepub.com/cgi/shibboleth?entityID=<IDP's entity ID>&uri=<target URL>

For configurate EZProxy to have a hybrid authentication for sagepub, please see example I made in https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/inclibrary/RegistryOfResources

Best regards

Dear Foster Zhang

Thank you for your email below, which I saw via https://lists.incommon.org/sympa/arc/inc-lib-vendor/2010-02/msg00010.html.

I’m very pleased to say that access is now available on SAGE Journals for institutions in the InCommon federation, as requested.

I’d like to invite you to test and implement Shibboleth access for your university on SAGE Journals.

Please do let us know how it goes and if you have any questions or problems.

Here’s how to set up the access:

The process for accessing SAGE Journals via Shibboleth is straightforward.

To set up access to your subscribed content via Shibboleth for your institution please go to https://online.sagepub.com/cgi/changeuserinfo and login with your administrator username/password. Click “View/Change Shibboleth Profiles” and then “Create New Profile”.

You will need the following details to hand:
- Scope (for example: stanford.edu). This is usually a domain and must match against the part after the @ sign in the EduPersonScopedAffiliation value.
- Scoped Affiliations which should have access. This is the part before the @ sign in the EduPersonScopedAffiliation value. The default will be student, staff, faculty, employee, member.

If you have any questions or require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us via .

Many thanks.

Regards

Rob Smith

Hello Foster, et. al.

I will forward your message to an appropriate individual at HighWire.  My role and function are limited to providing online technical assistance to end users.

Kind regards,

Dear La Vonne Gallo,
I am writing you on behalf of Johns Hopkins University and the other universities listed at the end of this email.  We are all committed to the concept of federated identity management and federated access to licensed resources.  Hence, we have implemented (or are implementing) the Shibboleth technology at our respective institutions (which have all also joined the InCommon federation).
We have noticed that you have implemented Shibboleth/SAML within your product line (including Sage Publications and other online journals you support and host,) and are using the technology to provide federated access to your services within the UK Access Management Federation.  We, collectively, would like to invite you to also join the InCommon federation so that we, as well, will be able to federate with you.  You provide valuable services to our user communities, and we would like to begin integrating those services with the single sign on infrastructures we have invested in at our respective institutions.
Johns Hopkins University would like to be your sponsor for membership into InCommon and help facilitate the process.  We can provide guidance in terms of federation policies and best practices.  We also have  a willing group of universities that should be able to help with testing and implementation, and we can help coordinate that as well.
If you are interested, we can set up a conference call to discuss some of the details and initiate the process.
Thank you,
Foster Zhang, Johns Hopkins University

Hello Foster,

Thank you very much for writing.  HighWire only has support for the UK Access Management Federation for Shibboleth authentication at this time.  We will keep your request and your details on file for the time when we add support for additional federations.

Kind regards,
La Vonne Gallo

COMMENTS:
can you add US Higher Education/Johns Hopkins to the
list of allowed institutes using shibboleth for
authentication?
Johns Hopkins is member of incommon and is willing to
be the test site for such implementation in us.

we currently enabled shib sessioninitiator with Jstor,
Ebscohost, and is working with Elsevier for
ScienceDirect, and scopus.
