It is my pleasure to share the 2016 Internet2 Trust and Identity 
Accomplishment Report. Our community has made some significant headway 
on a number of fronts in the past year, and the groundwork has been laid 
for more progress in the coming year.

When I look back at my first year as the VP for Trust and Identity in 
Internet2, I see the expansion of InCommon with the integration with 
eduGAIN (which was no small task) and a proof of concept for the Steward 
Program with MCNC (extending federation to K-14). We also released the 
first two versions of TIER and adopted a new DevOps framework enabling 
continual evolution of TIER components and packaging. Finally, the 
community expended significant effort to plan for the future of InCommon 
and TIER, and how we will serve research and education in the next few 
years. It is not an exaggeration to say that it takes my breath away.

None of this would be possible without the strong community that has 
formed around trust and identity over the past decade. When I consider 
how we work together to solve common problems, and how free community 
members are with their time and talents it is truly exciting and 
inspiring.
