Self-Service Password Reset Available for Federation Manager

If you forget your password to the Federation Manager, you can now generate a new password yourself. InCommon has introduced a two-factor password reset tool that leverages the email address and phone number that we have on file. You can see a quick video demo and/or read more about the two-factor password reset process, and the underlying technology, on the wiki.

IAM Online: Accepting Social Identity

The next IAM Online webinar (Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at 3 pm EST) will feature case studies for leveraging social identity, as well as a pilot social-to-SAML gateway hosted by the University of Texas System. See the details and please plan to join us.

Email Lists for Assurance, Certificates

InCommon offers community email lists for both the certificate service () and the assurance program (). Both are open to anyone with an interest in those services. To subscribe to either list, send email to . The subject of your email should be: subscribe <name of list>.

Two Services Added to Research & Scholarship Category

The Collaboration Wiki Spaces at Internet2 and Narada Metrics, a service offered by the Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH), have been added to the InCommon Research and Scholarship Category. (See a list of all Research & Scholarship service providers and identity providers.) Service providers eligible for the category support research and scholarship services for the InCommon community. Participating identity providers agree to release a minimal set of attributes to the category.

CAS/Shib and Grouper Training Offered After Jasig/Sakai Unconference

InCommon Affiliate Unicon will offer two training sessions—one for CAS/Shibboleth and one for Grouper—on January 17, 2013, immediately following the Jasig/Sakai unconference. For details and registration information, go to www.unicon.net.

Social-to-SAML: Accepting Social Identities for InCommon Federated Services

Is your campus providing identity services to an ever-growing group of users: student applicants, parents, community members, continuing education enrollees, friends of the institution? Some schools are using social identities (e.g., Google and Yahoo) to provide access to selected federated services. This IAM Online will feature case studies for leveraging social identity and a pilot social-to-SAML gateway hosted by the University of Texas System.
