InCommon Reaches 400 Participants
InCommon has welcomed its 400th participating organization. The total number of InCommon participants has grown from 264 at the beginning of 2011 to 400 today. That total includes more than 100 sponsored partners. InCommon offers four service categories, including the federation, certificate service, assurance program, and multifactor authentication services.
Internet2, Duo Security Announce Two-Factor Offering
Internet2 and Duo Security have announced a partnership to offer an easy-to-use and low-cost two-factor authentication technology to protect information and access to services on college campuses. Duo’s technology and cloud service leverage users’ mobile phones as a second factor of authentication. InCommon will enroll campuses through its trust services.
RL "Bob" Morgan Honored by Internet2
Internet2 has bestowed its 2012 Presidents Award to R.L. "Bob" Morgan, co-chair of the InCommon Technical Advisory Committee, chair of the Middleware Architecture Council for Education (MACE), and one of the architects of InCommon.
Assurance Documents Revised
Version 1.2 of the assurance specifications have been available for comment for the past three weeks. Several comments were received and the documents are now being revised. The revisions primarily address the US government need for rapid deployment of Bronze, as well as clarifications to the audit reporting process.
